History of Western New York Grantmakers Association
Founded in 1982, Western New York Grantmakers Association has
been an association of Corporations, foundations and individuals
who believe that philanthropy is more effective when grantmakers
have the opportunity for education, information and communication.
In 2000 WNYGA adopted a three-year strategic plan. This
vision of growth and development centered on providing services
to members, services that strengthen grantmaking organizations
by keeping them informed of community issues, helping them develop
good grantmaking skills and practices and offering opportunities
to learn from outside experts.
In 2004 the Board of Directors
once again reviewed the plan and identified three strategic
areas that will act as a road map for the next few years. Our
focus for the next three years will be membership services, service
to the philanthropic community and continued infrastructure
excellence.
